Film City Future’s mission is to connect people, space and opportunity, enabling access and entry to the screen industries for all - acting as a catalyst for participation, learning, and innovation.

FILM CITY FUTURES is the charity set up by Film City Glasgow, originally established to provide training and development opportunities in the film and screen industries in Scotland - with particular emphasis on young people aged between 16 and 25.

Our vision is to establish and develop new generations of skilled professionals. Our mission is to connect people, space and opportunity, enabling access and entry to the screen industries for all – acting as a catalyst for participation, learning, and innovation.

We are based at Film City Glasgow – a centre for the screen industries in Scotland – which houses over 25 companies from across the production and post-production sector. Sigma Films, one of Scotland’s most successful film production companies, is a founding member of Film City Glasgow and FILM CITY FUTURES.

JUMPCUT is our flagship project, an intensive film production program for young people aged between 16 and 25, run by Film City Futures in association with Film City Glasgow and Sigma Films.

It gives participants the opportunity to form a production company and make a professional short film with a budget, developing invaluable hands-on experience in an industry environment.

“We are very proud of JUMPCUT.  It has been designed to answer specific industry needs and is the only project of its kind that gives newcomers an intensive, mentor-led, fast track into the industry while receiving full exposure to every aspect of the film-making process in a professional, industrial environment. The results to date have been phenomenal, with over 70% of previous graduates going straight into the industry.”

- Gillian Berrie, Director of Sigma Films and Film City Glasgow

FILM CITY FUTURES worked with a range of community and youth organisations on PROJECTOR filmmaking projects, which took place both in community venues and within Film City Glasgow. This project also involved holding introductory workshops and activities, giving participants a taster into the filmmaking process.

In recent years, PROJECTOR has collaborated on two projects with the Youth Community Support Agency (YCSA) based in Pollokshields, developed a short film with South Lanarkshire Council on the region’s mining heritage, and organised a music video project, led by top industry mentors, in conjunction with Glasgow Music Studios.
