If you have a mailing list or database, if you market your films or broadcasts to a list of contacts, then you need to know about General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This new set of rules about how you handle data comes into force in May this year, changing the way that you need to deal with personal data, particularly in the context of marketing. The new regulations could have a major impact on your screen company: failing to comply could result in fines of up to £17 million!
To ensure that your company is up to date with the new data protection laws, we’re offering a free workshop by Scott-Moncrieff and BTO Solicitors. Elizabeth McLean of Scott-Moncrieff and Laura Irvine of BTO Solicitors will talk you through the main changes and requirements of this new legislation, the challenges it might pose to your organization, and the practical steps you can take now.
Elizabeth and Laura will be on hand to chat further with anyone who wants to discuss how GDPR might affect their current productions, and we will also be there to tell you a bit more about FOCUS, and discuss the current rolling application process.
The event is held at Film City Glasgow, 401 Govan Road, on Wednesday 31st January.
Registration and coffee will be from 12:30pm, with the workshop running from 1pm to 2:30pm.
