"WHAT DOES THE SECOND STAGE OF FOCUS LOOK LIKE?"
The first step in Stage 2 is attending a meeting with the FOCUS team to start creating your Action Plan. During this meeting we will look at the recommendations outlined in your Business Development Strategy, and discuss how best to take your company forward.
We will suggest suitable consultants to best fit your company's needs and cost out the work in detail.
The end result will be an Action Plan outlining the exact work that will be realised through the Stage 2 process, with identified consultants, number of days, timeframe, payment schedule, agreed outputs and costs.
"WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I RECEIVE MY ACTION PLAN?"
Once your Action Plan has been agreed, we will discuss with, and contract, your consultants, and also invoice you for your first Stage 2 contribution. We will then introduce you to your consultant, who you will work with directly.
"WHO ARE THE CONSULTANTS?"
We work with a range of consultants across 12 broad areas of expertise, including Business Management, Development, Script Consultancy, Marketing and Sales & Distribution.
Our screen specialist consultants are experts in their field and have been carefully selected to give you the highest calibre of advice. They have worked with many of the world’s most successful film and television companies, and are the kinds of people who can create opportunities and make a real difference to you company.
Take a look at our EXPERTS section to find out more about the individual consultants and areas of expertise.
"HOW DO I ENSURE THAT I ACHIEVE MY OUTCOMES?"
Your Action Plan will reflect your businesses goals and aspirations. To ensure that your outcomes are being achieved FOCUS will monitor the progress of Stage 2.
We will have regular contact with yourself and your consultants to make sure that work is happening within the specified timescale and that deadlines are being met.
"WHAT ARE THE COSTS?"
The overall cost will be split equally between you (the participating company), Creative Scotland and Scottish Enterprise, with each paying one third of the overall cost.
The overall value of Stage 2 is up to £32,000 per company. Two thirds of that will be spent directly on consultants (up to £21,300) and one third will be spent on covering the overheads of running the project.
You can expect to spend up to £10,650 in Stage 2. However, Stage 2 is flexible, and we know that some companies may not want to spend the full amount. Your Stage 1 consultant can work towards a set limit if you have one in mind.
As part of your Action Plan we will agree on a payment schedule that works for you, with your contributions invoiced in stages if required.
For participating companies who would like to spend more than the allocated amount there may be an opportunity to bid for further funds at a later stage in the pilot if funds are available. If this is the case, the companies will follow the same previous budget allocation and contribute one third of the overall cost.
"HOW LONG DOES STAGE 2 TAKE?"
We expect Stage 2 to take around 4 months but this is subject to change and we are open to flexibility between consultants and companies. You may find it useful to have a consultant who works with you over a longer period of time.
All work must be complete within the time-frame of the pilot, which ends in June 2019.
