Stage 1 business development consultant

Mark is a media business consultant with 20 years experience in television production, distribution and finance.   He has worked with some of the UK’s leading independent production companies and has a comprehensive understanding of both the UK and international markets.  He has considerable experience in managing and growing indies as well as M&A on both sales and acquisitions.

Mark was appointed Chief Operating Officer for Rare Television in 2014.  With funds raised from private equity investors, he was tasked with managing a small group of production companies whilst continuing to implement a ‘buy & build’ strategy of indies across the factual genre – from Specialist Factual to Fact Ent.  He drew up and analysed business plans for potential acquisitions and investments, working together with the CEO of Rare in presenting proposals to investors.

In 2011 he became Managing Director of 360 Production, demonstrating a strong entrepreneurial flair for expanding operational and commercial output of a start-up based in London and Northern Ireland.  360 quickly became one of the UK’s fastest growing indies, producing blue chip factual programmes for the UK and international markets, as well as creating digital content for clients such as Youtube and Yahoo. In 2014 he prepared the company for sale, took it to market and managed the acquisition process.

Mark’s background in production is diverse.  He was Head of Production for Impossible Pictures overseeing a £20m p.a. slate of drama and factual programmes.  Prior to this he was line producer on ground breaking series such as The Universe With Stephen Hawking and Days That Shook the World.
