Cate Nelson-Shaw began her career with The Boots Company PLC on their Graduate Development Programme, where she worked across the company learning how large corporations do business. Since then, she has worked both as a client in a number of SMEs and in agencies directing client accounts. This multi-sector background gives Cate a unique perspective for clients at Yellowbook Consulting – big business thinking combined with small business insight.


Cate Nelson-Shaw's experience also covers a variety of other business sectors, from FMCG, Food & Drink, Leisure and Lifestyle to Not For Profit organisations. She has previously worked with The Signet Library, The Edinburgh Academy, No Catch Ltd, Murray & Murray, the children's author Charlie James, Maximillion Events Ltd, Scottish Quality Salmon, The Edinburgh School of Food and Wine and Apex Property Care. Cate has a Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Cate Nelson-Shaw's current Non Executive portfolio includes Business Mentor for Edinburgh Research & Innovation at her alma mater The University of Edinburgh, member of the Communications Advisory Committee for Changing the Chemistry as well as a member of the Steering Committee for Bruntsfield Reads, an innovative primary school led campaign whose aim is to transform the way children read. Previously she was a Director of the Scotland Malawi Partnership for 6 years and Chair of her local Partner Provider playgroup. She is regularly commissioned to write features for MADE Magazine and has previously contributed to Scotland Magazine, The 3rd i Magazine and to the blogs Changing People and Witty Ant. She is often invited to speak at events and her experience includes The University of Edinburgh with whom she has a long standing involvement and Big Day Out. Cate Nelson-Shaw is a member of IoD Scotland, Changing the Chemistry and the Edinburgh Businesswomen's Club. Her strengths lie in her ability to think both strategically and creatively to help businesses develop and succeed.
