Dan Twist is a TV Development Producer and academic for the BA in Broadcast Production: TV & Radio at the University of the West of Scotland.

Dan has worked for over twenty years in the TV industry, both in development and production for BBC, ITV, STV and independent production companies in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds and London. Dan has had his TV series ideas commissioned from Formats to Documentary and has produced BAFTA Scotland and RTS Scotland award-winning shows.

In his career, Dan has developed and produced various formats in Entertainment, Factual Entertainment and Features and has regularly developed then produced a number of series from concept to delivery. He won a BAFTA Scotland award for developing and producing Tiger Aspect’s hybrid scripted quiz series Armchair Detectives and an RTS Scotland award for celebrity TV archive series, The TV That Made Me.

Dan produced BBC’s long running antiques series; Celebrity Antiques Road Trip and was the Edit Producer on Antiques Road Trip. Prior to this he worked on various prime-time entertainment series including ITV’s Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Take-Away, You’ve Been Framed! and Loose Women.

In 2018, Dan was the interim Channel 4 Nations and Regions Executive based in the channel’s nations and regions office in Glasgow. He worked closely with Channel 4 commissioning editors and formed working relationships with suppliers in the nations & regions. Dan hosted a number of Channel 4 briefings around the UK with heads of department and genre commissioners. He supported supplier development, access to channel commissioner briefs and various Channel 4 funding opportunities.

At the University of the West of Scotland, Dan utilises his TV industry experience to create practical modules in Multiplatform Production and Podcasting. Engaging students in industry ready learning in production and development.
